CTE Programming Offered:
Students at Anacostia have the option to join one of two CTE pathways. In addition to project-based learning coursework and the opportunity to earn industry-recognized certifications, Anacostia CTE students will hear from guest speakers, participate in field trips to industry sites, and complete paid internships.

Civil Engineering & Architecture
Engineering & Architecture students will dig deep into the engineering design process, applying math, science, and engineering standards to hands-on projects. They will develop skills in building and site design and development. In the capstone course, they will work both individually and in teams to identify an issue and then research, design, and test a solution, ultimately presenting their solution to a panel of engineers.

Internship Opportunities: Accenture, Pepco, ART Engineering, LLC
Certifications: Autodesk Certified Professional (ACP) in Revit Architecture, Autodesk Certified User (ACU) in AutoCAD

Public Leadership
The pathway will prepare students for a variety of careers in government and public safety, including local, state, and federal government, national security, law enforcement, protective services and corrections. Students will study legal concepts and review essential cases in constitutional law, as well as examine the roles and responsibilities of police, courts, and corrections. They will learn essential career skills such communication, collaboration, and professionalism, preparing them for a career in public leadership.

Certifications: Microsoft Essentials, First Aid & CPR, Boater Safety
