Exploratory Cosmetology

This course is an exploratory course for middle school students. Students are introduced to the fundamentals of cosmetology, including nail care, hair styling, proper health, and hygiene. The course employs a hands-on learning approach to instruction. It is designed to focus on cleanliness and introduces students to the science of physiology pertaining to the head, nails, skin, and scalp. Students use mannequins to exhibit the work. Cosmetology is a field that offers many different career opportunities. This course makes students aware of the role they play in service to others. The emphasis is on professionalism and building relationships.
